As a conservation finance organization, ECOTRUST offers services in the following areas:

Grants management

including mobilizing resources, identifying suitable grantees as well as ensuring that grants are used effectively.

Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES);

including design of PES Schemes, capacity building for project participants and marketing of credits to the voluntary market. ECOTRUST is successfully managing Trees for Global Benefits programme, which is a cooperative community carbon offset scheme based on the Plan Vivo system.

Development and promotion of model (cutting edge) conservation initiatives.

Through research, we support the generation of new knowledge and use of environmentally friendly alternatives for sustainable natural resource management.

Capacity building of community-based organizations

using participatory approaches, ECOTRUST offers specialized forms of training essential for institutional and project management. Individual farmers are supported to form organizations within their Communities. ECOTRUST, works with these communities training them in various aspects such as planning for better land management and setting up enterprises.

Land-trust development and management for conservation purposes.

ECOTRUST has pioneered a private land management initiative and is holding in trust a total of 77ha of land under its land trust program. In addition, ECOTRUST has facilitated formation and registration of Communal Land Associations, who have developed management plans to manage communal forests as provided for in the Land Act.
