Position: Programme Officer Grants & Land Trust Management
Reporting to: Programme Manager
Main Purpose of Job The Program Officer – Grants & land Trust Administration will be part of the program management team and will be primarily responsible for fostering conservation and improved natural resources management under the grants and land trust programs. His/her key responsibilities shall include the following:
1. Take oversight of all aspects of Land Trust and Conservation Grant Programs, ensuring timely and effective planning,implementation and reporting of the various conservation projects under these programmes
2. Network with and collaborate with donor agencies, government departments, Private Sector and Environmental NGOs
to ensure the design, investment and implementation of sound environment and natural resources management activities
Required Skills: The Program Officer – Grants & Land Trust Administration should have biodiversity conservation,environment and or rural development skills, at least five years experience in the management of donor-funded programs.
In addition, s/he should possess good communication skills, computer, and project design/management skills. Business and performance management, performance monitoring skills, and conducting EIAs would be an added advantage.
Qualifications: The Program Officer – Grants & Land Trust Administration should be a holder of a Masters degree in natural resources management, social sciences or rural development.
Position: Programme Officer Payment for Environmental Services
Reporting to: Programme Manager
Main Purpose of the Job: The Program Officer – Payment for Environmental Services will oversee all aspects of Payment for Ecosystem Services Programs. His/her key responsibilities shall include the following
1. Take oversight of all aspects of the Trees for Global Benefits Program, which is ECOTRUST’s Community Carbon Offsetting Scheme linking small –scale landholder farmers to the voluntary carbon market, based on the Plan Vivo system. This will include recruitment, training & monitoring of tree farmers, ensuring adherence to operating standards, identification & preparation of new areas for expansion as well as reporting on progress.
2. Spearhead the development and implementation of other Payment for Ecosystem Services schemes.
Required Skills: Experience in design and implementation of Payment for Environmental Services schemes, Skills in project design, planning, monitoring and evaluation, Computer skills in word-processing and data management and Willingness and ability to travel frequently both within and outside the country.
Qualifications: Master of Science degree in natural or social sciences and Five years experience in rural development and or natural resources management work, preferably for an NGO
