At the start of this year, 2010, ECOTRUST opened offices in Kasese to support conservation initiatives around the Rwenzoris. Currently, the office is promoting collaborative management of natural resources, with support from CARE. In addition, the office is making preparations for the extension of Trees for Global Benefits Programme – a community carbon management scheme to Kasese. Furthermore, the office is spearheading tourism development in the Rwenzori Mountains Gateway, where ECOTRUST is managing a 35ha private reserve under its Land Trust Programme.
